Surrender: Gracia Mukiibi

In a world where self-reliance, self-sufficiency and self-dependency are applauded, we’ve lost sight of the true meaning of surrender.

I picture a weary individual with so much load to carry as they journey to a destination. Help comes their way not only to transport them but to also offload them, but this weary person accepts the ride but declines to put their load down. We don’t want to let go of our burdens because they define who we are, like shackles tied up to an ankle of a free man, despite having the key, we become so familiar to the movements and the rhythm of the noise. We can’t help but hold on to bondage regardless of our freedom.

You are defined by what Christ accomplished on the Cross not by what you’ve faced, are facing or will be facing, no situation is permanent! Struggles are a guarantee on this journey called life, but how you respond matters.

We know and quote God’s Word,

So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭36‬ ‭NLT‬‬

but do we really live by it?

Surrendering to God is not about having alternatives and dictating God of your preferred outcome. For the most part, it’s simply having total confidence and trust that He is God and whilst the outcome is out of your control, He is in control and He’s limitless.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT
