Women In Leadership

Too many women have a voice but hesitate to use it. I have met many who are reluctant to step into leadership, while others wait for someone else to create change. Injustice can become normalised when it is endured for long enough, but acceptance is not the same as inevitability.

We can move from intention to action by:

  • speaking with confidence and purpose;

  • taking responsibility for solving problems;

  • putting ideas into practice; and

  • becoming role models for future generations.

Women who are able to speak up should use their voices effectively. I believe we were born for such a time as this: to speak for those who are unheard and to offer hope to those who feel hopeless. Although we still operate within male-dominated systems, women have many ways to advance their own position while uplifting others.

Empowerment can take many forms:

  • education and training;

  • practical advice and encouragement;

  • personal growth and example; and

  • sharing knowledge, skills and opportunities.

Our life journeys can inspire others. Inequalities in education, leadership, safety, security and employment will persist if no one confronts them, with consequences for generations to come. By passing on what we have learned, we can build a worldwide network of women who create lasting change.
